Introducing the Man of Mischief!

Blue Moon Room

This centrally located, spacious sleeping room features a colorfully crafted rag rug. On the east wall is an original watercolor of The House at Stone Head as viewed in moonlight by local artist, Shelly Frederick. This work of art is one of the many Moon motifs repeated throughout this charming blue and yellow room.

Elvis Room

This nostalgic, tastefully tacky room features the bed where The King wanted to sleep. Feel his presence while lying here watching "Aloha from Hawaii" on the portable VCR player. Perhaps you would rather listen to romantic ballads by Elvis on the 5-disk CD changer when you can't help falling in love on the red satin bed sheets. Heck, fix yourself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with bacon and stare at His Likeness on the wall. Go for it. Elvis lives!

Bathroom

Everyone’s favorite sitting room is wonderfully done in black and white and features the inviting, freestanding porcelain tub of your romantic fantasies. The surrounding curtains are for the less adventurous preferring to shower. Highlighted on the door is a pen and ink drawing of Stone Head meticulously detailed by local artist, Lynn Hughes.

Room Descriptions

Front Parlor

Hidden behind the doors of a beautifully crafted armoire is a Sony TV with Direct Satellite hook-up, as well as a DVD and VCR player. A dollhouse built in 1908, amazingly similar in both design and color to The House at Stone Head, sits atop this cabinet. An oil painting by Helmsburg artist, Norene Mara, graces the antiqued glazed wall.

Hearth Room

The Hearth Room's décor reflects the owner’s love of nature. A Vermont Casting gas stove adds a warm glow on a cold winter’s night. The red cedar stair rail with ironwood post was hand-crafted from trees taken from the property. The library cabinet houses many found artifacts. Highlighting the south wall is a watercolor of a farmhouse on Popular Grove Road by nonagenarian, Kenneth Reeves.

Kitchen

The gourmet kitchen with its tall, sunny windows accentuates the brightly colored décor by Debra J. Smith Interiors. Special touches include the antique-designed sink, and farmhouse style dining table that seats eight. Also evident in her plan is the hand painted checkerboard design on the new poplar wood floor. Two custom-made rugs by local weaver, Chris Gustin, add an attractive accent. The Viking gas range with griddle, Sub-zero refrigerator, and Sony TV encourage leisurely cooking while listening to music and sipping a glass of wine.

The Nest

This charmingly decorated bedroom has a cozy feel. Late afternoon sun creates a warm glow throughout this room's mellow-hued furnishings. Despite the many references to the owner's love of birds, some may refer to this as The Lover's Nest. One of the few non-avian related accessories is an oil painting titled, "Stone Head Morning" by local artist, June Bryan. Viewed in the painting are some outbuildings no longer standing. This room also includes a copy of a drawing by the brother of the homes first resident.

This pen and ink drawing is the artwork of Leamon M. Mabe, youngest son of William F. Mabe. The drawing is dated Nov. 3, 1880. Leamon was professor of penmanship at Greenup, KY at the time of his death in 1881. He was 24 years old when he passed away and the local obituary noted that his parents arrived in Greenup shortly before he died.

There are two Direct satellite TV’s indoors while binoculars and spotting scope are available for your use to stimulate outdoor viewing.
